The Race Directors of the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon have created 6 navigation courses that can be completed at any time and provide ideal training for the event.
Each map enables you to do two events. And of course, because we post you an actual map, you can do them as many times as you like!
Use these as an introduction for new potential mountain marathon entrants, or by those wishing to test their navigational skills or just as a fun few hours out on the fells.
100% of the entry fees are passed on the Lakeland Events CIC, the not-for-profit that organises the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon to cover the costs of this event.
HOW IT WORKS
There are defined locations (‘controls’) with different values and the objective is to collect as many points as possible by visiting the controls within the designated time (2/3/4.5 or 6 hours depending on which course you have elected at the start).
There are no physical markers at the controls – instead we use a GPS smartphone app called MapRun to identify and record when each control has been visited. At the end of your run, your results are displayed and are stored on a server so you can see your ranking compared with other people who’ve completed the same course.
